  • Q:

My old doorbell station has 4 wires in the back: 2 to the speaker and 2 to an electrical plate; this plate includes a button an indicator light. Your picture on the website shows no back plate. Just want to confirm that it's ok. Also, as this is low voltage, I do not need to turn off the circuit breaker during installation, right?

    A:

If you have an old M&S, this will work.  If you have an old Nutone, you will need an update plate as well.  This is the DMCFD.  No back plate is required.  You do not need to turn off electric.

  • Q:

I am replacing a 30-year-old door station for an M & S intercom system. My current door station measures 6 1/4 x 4 1/4. Your specifications say the BD3BN measures 6 1/4 x 4 1/8. Will this work? Also is this a 4-wire unit? The picture only shows 2 wires. And finally, do I also need to purchase a mounting frame for the fixture? Thank you.

    A:

The old and new M&S door stations have not changed.  This will work.  2 wires go the speaker wires, the other 2 go to the doorbell button.  No additional frame is required.

As previously stated, the equipment is OK - instruction manuals lacking and color of door station and frame are not the same. Quality Home Systems has been outstanding in assisting with the installation.
