August 10th - Quality Home Systems is proud to announce that we have received our Extended Validation SSL Certificate or EV SSL for short. The EV SSL is a great improvement to the site and beneficial to our customers.
What is an EV SSL or even what is an SSL certificate? You may be asking these questions right now. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, the protocol that creates a secure encrypted connection between a browser and a server. This SSL certificate is presented in the fashion of a padlock on most browsers that is closed as well as having https instead of the basic http in the URL. An EV SSL certificate does everything that the regular SSL certificate does and more. To begin, EV SSL is the highest level of SSL that you can get and is the best of the best. EV SSL Certificates provide the highest level of encryption available and enable the organization behind a website to present its own verified identity to website visitors. This is presented to the user through a green address bar, https://, padlock and the organization's name.
Even with all these improvements with EV SSL, it was not easy to obtain. We had to pass through rigorous testing, such as proving exclusive right use the domain, confirming the legal, operational and physical existence of the entity, and proving the entity authorized the issuance of the Certificate.
