The M&S 8-note Chime Module is an electronic board that is compatible with the DMC1, DMC3-4 and MC602 intercom master stations. To announce a visitor the door bell button is pressed on a door speaker connected to the music/intercom system. The chime can then be heard at the master station or any room and/or patio station.

The Chime Module can be programmed to play one, two, four or eight notes providing you with a different chime at each door station so you will know which door your visitor is at.  The module is installed in the back of the master.  The volume can be adjusted and to increase the volume level the dial is turned in the clockwise direction.

    I Have M&S intercom system. My door bell does not work. Chime control board may be the problem What can go wrong with this board


    There are certain resistors that can go wrong with these boards.  If you think you need a replacement, please see the MC3 chime module for a replacement.

    Is the module m&S MC3 can be used on M&S Music And Sound RARE 228 ? Door bell is not working.


    It should be able to work with the 228.  The MC3 connects to the master with a 4 pin connection that is shown in the pictures.

    How can I increase the volume of the 3 note chime module on the master unit.


    The volume of the chime module needs to be adjusted on the back of the master housing (the master unit needs to be unscrewed from the wall.  The chime module volume is a 1/2" circle that is black and says volume.  There is a small white slot on the inside of the circle that has an arrow.  Turn this clockwise to raise the volume.  You can then adjust the volume by master unit volume, not music or intercom volume.  This volume setting is found through the tone settings at the master unit.

    The chime does not work at either door, nor does the speaker.


    If you have either an M&S or Nutone door speaker with bell button, remove the wires that are connected to the bell button and touch them together.  If the chime rings in the house, then you need to replace the door speaker.  We have these on our website.  If the chime does not ring, then you should call us to do further troubleshooting.

  • Q:

    I have a M&S MC602 system. With a MC3 chime system. This chime does not work but when the bell button is pushed the intercom clicks. The button is clearly connected and I measured the voltage which is at 22V at the button. The button push shorts it and so the wiring is fine. Do you know if the problem is with the intercom or with the chime board? How do I fix?


    If you have not tried, try jumping the common and 1,2,3 note at the chime itself.  If that works, then it is a bad bell button.  Other then that, it can be hard to tell.  If it is putting out voltage, the transformer is ok.  The only real way would be to get a new chime and test.  They are hard to come by since they have been disconituned.
